Cameo Duncan, originally from California, moved to Texas in 2013. With a degree in Business Administration, she has built a successful 12-year career in banking and finance. Now a small business owner, Cameo is passionate about empowering others and giving back to her community. She actively participates in local initiatives, driven by her commitment to support and uplift those around her. Her professional experience and
dedication to service reflect her goal of making a positive impact through both business and community involvement.
Teresa Gaines is a lifelong Texan, born and raised in Lubbock, Tx. She and her husband, Terry moved to Arlington in 1983 after graduating from Texas Tech. They raised two daughters in Arlington. Teresa loved teaching elementary school for 34 years and serving on many PTA committees. She and her husband belong to New World UMC. Teresa has served as PreSchool President, along other committees at New World. She has been a Commissioner for the Arlington Civil Service board and is active with Women Inspiring Philanthropy. Currently, she serves on the board of directors for The Miracle League, Levitt, and of course Arlington Urban Ministries. AUM holds a special place in her heart as she has helped at the office, New 2 U Store, and several years serving on the Boots Committee.
Jan Barton Gerro is a retired EPA attorney who lives in Arlington, Texas. She is the proud mother of two grown children and enjoys traveling in her free time. Deeply committed to service, Jan volunteers with several nonprofit organizations, including Arlington Urban Ministries, Cinderella Charity Ball benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs , Women Inspiring Philanthropy (WIP), and Changing Lenses, Changing Lives that helps children in Africa. She also leads hospitality at St. John the Apostle. Jan’s passion for giving back and building community continues to make a meaningful impact both locally and globally. She brings warmth, dedication, and heart to everything she does.
Steve Gray is CEO and Managing Partner of Advisors Commercial Real Estate in Arlington, with over 25 years in the industry. Advisors specializes in brokerage and property management. Steve focuses on land and commercial sales in DFW, retail projects, and tenant representation across Texas. His clients include ADT Pizza, Avis Budget Group, and others. Previously, he was Senior VP and Director of Leasing at Weitzman, managing leasing for 70 shopping centers. He holds an M.S. in Applied Economics and a B.B.A. from the University of North Texas. Steve serves on Arlington Urban Ministries’ board and lives in Arlington with his family.
Don Henderson is a graduate of Texas A&M University and Brite Divinity School. He is a retired Northwestern Mutual agent with a strong commitment to community service. A longtime member and past president of Kiwanis, Don has served on the board of Big Brothers and several other local organizations focused on student scholarships. He dedicated 15 years to volunteering with Meals on Wheels and remains actively involved with Arlington Urban Ministries. Don is a valued weekly volunteer at the Nu2U Resale shop, where his time and efforts continue to make a meaningful impact in the community he cares deeply about.
Mary Helen Hudspeth has been a dedicated AUM board member since November 2016 and currently serves as board president. Her involvement began with the Boots committee,
sparking her passion for AUM. A retired AISD educator, she spent 15 years as principal at Dunn Elementary. Originally from Georgia, where she was raised and still considers home, Mary Helen moved to Arlington in 1992 to start her AISD career. She holds a degree from the University of Georgia and a master’s from Texas Women’s University. Mary Helen and her husband, Tom, enjoy traveling and spending time with their adult sons and daughter-in-law.
Tonya Solis is a lifelong resident of Arlington, Texas born and raised
and attended Mansfield High School. She has four children and 7 grandchildren.
Her and her husband enjoy all outdoor activities. Tonya has been in the banking industry for 32 years and has work with Regions the last 13 years as a Branch Manager. Tonya also enjoys presenting Regions Financial Wellness programs to businesses and their employees. She has been a volunteer for the Junior Achievement and is on the board as a co chairman for Regions Impact Network where she arranges for educational workshops.
Patrick Johnson has over 21 years of experience with TXU Energy and its affiliates. He currently leads the Energy Assistance Team for TXU Energy, Ambit Energy, and TriEagle Energy, managing three major aid programs, including one of the largest bill-payment assistance programs nationwide. Patrick coordinates hundreds of partnerships with external organizations, helping thousands of low-income customers receive temporary support. Within Vistra Corp, he connects escalated customer cases with agency partners. Known for his passion and leadership, Patrick spearheads statewide energy assistance initiatives and serves on multiple boards and committees, making a significant impact in the communities Vistra serves.
A devout Christian, husband, and father of four, he was raised in Arlington and is a proud Lamar Viking for life. Known for his optimistic outlook, he always sees the glass as half full rather than half empty. Now residing in Viridian, he loves his community. Professionally, he is a seasoned executive with 30 years of experience in retail and distribution, managing multiple Fortune 100 divisions and companies. His claim to fame is that he came up with the Apple Store concept and convinced Steve Jobs to do it.
Tommy Moore has been an active board member of AUM since 2023. A lifelong educator, Tommy currently serves as the Assistant Principal at the Dan Dipert Career + Technical Center in the Arlington Independent School District (ISD). In addition to his work in education, he is also a dedicated board member of the Arlington Police Foundation.
Tommy and his wife, Audra, are proud parents of twin daughters, Mallory Valdez and Madison Moore. Together, they have built and managed two successful businesses in Arlington: A&T Moore Health Care, which they've owned since 1998, and Tomdra Investments, LLC, established in 2008.Outside of their professional endeavors, Tommy and Audra enjoy traveling and cherishing time with friends and family.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Chris moved to Texas as soon as possible. He has over 30 years of public accounting experience, ranging from Big 8 firms to running his own practice. Chris has served as a contractor on multiple Sarbanes-Oxley internal control projects and held CFO roles for two related local organizations. A longtime volunteer, he has supported more than five nonprofit organizations. He is also an active member of First United Methodist Church Arlington, demonstrating a strong commitment to integrity, service, and community impact throughout his career.
Claudia Perkins was adopted by her Golden Doodle Piper three years ago, after she (Piper) recovered from both Parvo and Hookworms, thanks to the help of Dr. Jim Turner (Farrell Animal Hospital).
She is vice chairman of Arlington Urban Ministries. She is also a member of the board of directors of the Rotary Club of Arlington, Arlington 4th of July Parade Association, Arlington Historical Society vice president, Texas Veterans Day Parade Committee and a member of the Finance Committee at New World United Methodist Church.
In 2016 she received the “Long Tall Texan Award” from Sam Houston High School, which recognizes the outstanding SHHS alumni. She is also former trustee chairman at New World United Methodist Church. She is one of four founding members and on the board of Keep Bolivar Beautiful, an affiliate of Keep Texas Beautiful.
A resident of Arlington since third grade, she is a graduate of AISD schools and UT Arlington.
She owns Wild Horse Promotional Products, producing distinctive swag for everyone from the DEA to PTAs since 2007.
Joe Stenger is a dedicated community servant and longtime director at AUM. He has served as Treasurer and on the Finance committee, while actively supporting the Nu2U warehouse team. With leadership experience in the restaurant and aerospace industries, Joe helped secure grant funding for AUM. Invited by a church member to consider serving with AUM, he became deeply involved in his church’s committees and helped establish a mission/outreach budget supporting AUM. He also volunteers with a food packing nonprofit linked to his church. Outside of advocacy, Joe enjoys reading, biking, hiking, traveling with his wife, and cherishing time with their out of state children and grandchildren.
Larry Thomas is a long time Arlington resident. He graduated from Arlington High School and attended UTA. He retired from Industrial Tool Cutting Company.
While his two children were small, he enjoyed coaching them in all sports. He was appointed Chairman
Of the Extra Curriculum Activities Committee for the Arlington School Board. Larry was recently recognized as an Outstanding Colt Graduate for Arlington High.
He volunteers at NU2U, Hot Dogs for Homeless, and also at his church.
He is married to Bettye Thomas. They have 2 children and 2 grandchildren.
Chetura Turner is from Dallas, Tx and has resided in Arlington for 5 years. Chetura has been on the AUM Board since 2023 and has a Masters Degree from Kaplan University and Bachelors from Dallas Baptist University. Chetura is a mother of 4, enjoys traveling and enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren. She became aware of AUM when she lost her job and became a recipient of the program. The program made such a positive impact on her life that she wanted to give back to the community by encouraging others through telling her testimony and story of support from AUM. AUM not only rescued her from financial despair but has fueled that passion to inspire and offer support to others who are in need.
